CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COORDINATOR BRIAN SPENCER I was blessed by coming to the New Martinsville Church of God 14 years ago. I was the assistant Youth and Children's Director and played the piano for the church that we moved from. I really had no intentions of working in a church again, but God had other plans for me. It wasn't long before Pastor Dave asked me to play the piano, to praise and worship God with my music. I cannot sing, and I do not preach, but I do enjoy the gifts that God has given me. I learned to play the piano for one reason and that was to play for God. My former pastor told me "it is not how well you play or do things, but how anointed your playing and work is that matters most to God"I pray that everything I do is anointed by the Holy Spirit. After getting into the music ministry, I couldn't wait to get into the youth and children's ministry also. In no time Pastor Dave asked if I would take them over at the New Martinsville Church of God. I was back into the swing of things and happier than I had ever been. I was the Youth and Children's Director for a number of years before having to step down as a result of an illness in my family. In July, 2005, Pastor Dave once again asked that I become the Youth and Children's Director for the church, and I did with great joy. My college degree is in Psychology with an eminence in child development and a minor in music. I have worked in group homes for children, as a juvenile probation officer for the courts, and as a child protective service worker for the state of West Virginia. But, my greatest joy is working with the youth and children in the church. I request that you remember me in your prayers that I might always be a vessel that God can use and that the youth, children and others do not see ME, but see GOD through me. |
